On Wednesday 25th May 2011 the 50th Anniversary Time Capsule was buried to mark the opening of the school in May 1961. The school’s Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister and one representative from each class was involved in the ceremony. The capsule was placed under a labelled paver so that it can be successfully opened in 2036.

Tournament of the Minds

Well done to all five teams that participated in TOM 2010. The students worked extremely hard in the six weeks preceding the event which proved to be very rewarding. Four out of the five teams received honours. What a fantastic effort! The school also appreciates the hard work, dedication and time the teachers gave to enable these children to take part in such a rewarding experience.

Debating

It was a win for Camden South against Woodland Road. The team, consisting of Harsha Chugh, Jahanvi Khatkar, Cynthia Bennett and Joshua Clarke prevailed and wore the stress away by leaving no trace of food in their lunchboxes! They enjoyed their day and Camden South is certain that even if it was a loss they had to face, the team would still return to school with the same huge grins on their faces. Harsha Chugh.

The B Team has participated in two debates, One against The Oaks and one against St Andrews. They were victorious in both debates. Their debating coach, Karina Ralston is to be thanked for voluntarily working with the debating teams. Congratualtions to Mara Aplin, Tyler Sayers, Melissa Fonti and Naomi Christie for a great effort! Mara Aplin.

“Gardening to grow self-esteem”

At Camden South Public School we grow more than vegies in our vegie patch! Research suggests that involvement in a group or club enhances self-esteem and helps to build positive relationships.

The kids at Camden South Public School are proud of their involvement in the gardening group and enthusiastically look forward to their time in the garden each week.
